Congressmen Jared Polis - Invitation to Support Imigration Reform - This Weekend!

Dear HRC Colorado, I need your help with one of the most important issues our nation faces: immigration reform. Please join us next Saturday, June 13th in Northglenn, as we rally in support of fixing our broken immigration system. Americans from across the ideological spectrum are outraged that we have over 15,000,000 undocumented immigrants in our country. From the political left we have urgent concerns about the human rights tragedy occurring in our own neighborhoods: The eight year old boy returning home from school to find that his mother’s workplace was raided, his hard-working mother sent into detention; the “straight A” 8th grade student in Lafayette who asked me three times if we would fix our broken immigration system in time for her to go to college; the woman beaten by her husband and afraid to call the police or a safe-house for fear that she will be deported. From the political right arise legitimate concerns about national sovereignty, the rule of law, rising costs of providing healthcare and public services, and the competitiveness of American farms and businesses: a farmer in Weld County who can’t get a seasonal visa for the same family that has worked his fields for two decades; immigration laws widely flouted by businesses and workers alike in a nation that is built on the rule of law. A national movement including businesses, unions, faith-based organizations, civil rights groups, conservatives, liberals, and community activists is forming to advocate comprehensive immigration reform, and I would like to invite you to take part in that overwhelming support for comprehensive immigration reform by attending our HUGE event: When: Saturday, June 13th, 2009 12:30 PM-2:00 PM Where: Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Parish Center 11385 Grant St., Northglenn, CO Our June 13th event is part of the United Families tour.
