What happens when you drop an American Idol/Broadway chanteuse belting out disco and show tunes in a room full of GLBT people?

Entertainer Frenchie Davis brought down the house in Denver at the 2008 Mile Hi Gala as tables emptied and people crowded the front of the ballroom to boogie to Ms. Davis’ soulful singing.

Over 475 people attended this year’s HRC annual dinner, resulting in a fundraising success for the organization. Federal Club memberships also jumped during the event from both new Federal Club and Federal Club Council memberships.

One extraordinary live auction item – the “Bid for Equality” – featured a multi-media presentation, produced locally, that posed the question, “What would you bid for equality?” The hammer came down on that item at $1,900. And Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) donated two tickets to the opening ceremonies of the upcoming Democratic convention in Denver for which the winning bidder paid $5,000.
